COMEBACK WIN FOR MOOSE BASEBALL OVER VSU LYNDON
UMaine Augusta overcome a a hard 1st inning to beat VSU Lyndon 9-5.
The UMA Moose picked up a 9–5 win over Vermont State Lyndon on Sunday at Fraser Field in Boston, MA on Sunday, March 29.
Vermont State Lyndon jumped out early, taking advantage of a pair of UMA errors along with a sacrifice fly from Doherty to grab a first-inning lead. The Moose battled back and evened things up in the fifth inning when Matt Donley drove in a run to make it 3–3.
Lyndon regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double from Brow, but UMA responded again in the sixth, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to tie the game at 4–4.
The Moose took control in the seventh inning, pushing across key runs after Gavin Abernathy was hit by a pitch and Will Henderson delivered a sacrifice fly, giving UMA the lead for good. They added insurance late to secure the 9–5 victory.
Matt Donley earned the win on the mound, going 6.2 innings while allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits, with five strikeouts. Jacob Plamondon was strong out of the bullpen, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings to close it out. Nate Bigelow took the loss for Lyndon.
UMA's offense was powered by a 14-hit performance. Plamondon, Cash Bizier, Davis Kibler, Elias Murray, and Amar Douidi each recorded two hits, while Donley and Henderson drove in two runs apiece.
Lyndon was led by Hernandez Jr., who tallied two hits, while Gonyeau, Brow, and Doherty each added an RBI.
The Moose return to action Friday when they take on the UMFK Bengals.
