Bio
Chris Petersen is an accomplished soccer coach currently serving as Assistant Women’s Coach at the University of Maine at Augusta, where Chris joined the staff in the winter of 2024. With a strong foundation in technical knowledge and a deep passion for player development, Chris specializes in working with goalkeepers and defenders, contributing significantly to match analysis, team tactics, and recruiting efforts.
Prior to joining UMA, Chris spent six years as an assistant coach for both men's and women's teams at Dakota County Technical College in Minnesota (NJCAA Division 1), gaining extensive collegiate-level experience. Chris holds a national USSF C license and has earned multiple certifications from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, including a National Diploma, NFHS/NSCAA Professional Development Certificate, and a Goalkeeper Coaching Diploma.
A former Division I soccer player, he has devoted decades to playing and coaching the sport. This broad experience at all levels brings deep insight and passion to mentoring athletes and guiding team success.
Beyond collegiate coaching, Chris has worked at the grassroots level with players of all ages and skill levels, serving as a Coerver coach, leading college soccer camps for U4–U15 players, coaching high school women's soccer, and managing U11-U18 travel teams in both indoor and outdoor settings. Chris is also experienced as a private goalkeeper coach.
Chris believes that coaching athletes across all age groups provides valuable insights into the game and emphasizes the importance of teaching proper techniques at every stage for long-term athlete development.
