Arjun Dhanoa Dominates In New York
UMaine Augusta Moose Golf Team Shines at Bobcat Classic
(Saranac Lake, NY) The UMaine Augusta Moose Golf Team kicked off their season with a strong showing at the Paul Smith's College Bobcat Classic on Saturday, August 23, held in Saranac, NY. Freshman standout Arjun Dhanoa from Superior, CO, demonstrated remarkable skill and composure, leading the tournament for much of the day.
Despite facing challenges, including a drop to T3 at one point, Dhanoa rebounded spectacularly, sinking a crucial 25-foot putt on a par three that reignited his confidence. He ultimately finished with an impressive score of 71, earning him the title of the lowest score in the match.
Other members of the Moose team also put forth solid performances, with Ryan Lai finishing with a score of 77, followed by Grant Stubbs at 83, and Mason Green at 84.
Coach "Doc" Merrill expressed his enthusiasm for the team's potential, saying, "Sometimes the nerves of competing in your first collegiate match can be hard to shake, but our players showed they were ready. I know this team is very good, and I am excited to see how far we go this season."
The Moose will look to build on this strong start when they compete next at the Central Maine Community College Invitational at Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland, ME, on September 5. With a promising season ahead, the team is eager to continue their momentum.
