West Commits to UMA

AUGUSTA, ME – The University of Maine at Augusta men’s basketball team is pleased to announce the commitment of Dustin West for the 2015-16 school year.  West is a graduate of Madison Area Memorial High School.

In high school, West was a four-sport athlete who lettered in golf, basketball, baseball, and tennis.  He lead the Mountain Valley Conference in free throw percentage his junior year.   He will bring diverse talent to UMA in the fall.  West will be majoring in Justice Studies.

 “Next season, I hope to step into the backcourt and make an immediate impact as a facilitator,” says West on committing to UMA.  “As a dynamic scorer in high school, I feel like I can use my scoring ability to not only create my own shots, but also open up the floor for my teammates. I also will be bringing constant intensity, and passion for the game.”

"Dustin will bring versatility and athleticism with his strong 6'2 presence to all three perimeter positions,” says head coach, Jim Ford.  “The former Madison standout has a picturesque jumping and slashing ability to keep defenders off balance."
