Rogers Leads Moose
AUGUSTA, ME-- On Monday night at the Augusta Civic Center the Moose took on the UMPI owls for the second time this season. Both teams brought the intensity, as fans were on the edge of their seat the entire first half. With numerous lead changes and both teams using their versatility in the paint and beyond the arc, they went into halftime tied at 27.
Ultimately it was UMPI who took charge in the first few minutes of the second half. Using their perimeter shooting, they came out to an early lead and held it for the rest of the game. UMPI went on to win 80-67.
The Moose had a strong team effort lead by tri-captain Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA), who had 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals. Tri-captain Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME) added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME) had 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Tri-captain Garrett Alley (Union, ME) had 11 points and seven rebounds while Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) rounded out the Moose with five points.
The Moose are back in action on Thursday at the Augusta Civic Center against conference opponent Eastern Maine Community College. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be accepting food donations for the Augusta Food Bank. GO MOOSE!
