AUGUSTA, ME – UMA cross country is excited to announce that former Lisbon High School multisport standout Shauna Rae Riordan has committed to run for the Moose for the 2017 season.
While at Lisbon HS Riordan lettered in both soccer and softball, being named to the all-conference team in softball her junior and senior years as well as second team all-conference in soccer her junior and senior years. Shauna also wrestled for two years and was active in student government where she served as class president.
When asked why she chose UMA Riodan said, "I found out about UMA's Architecture program and was thrilled to find out how hands-on it was. Attending a school out of state was exciting, but UMA is in my home state and it's affordable! I'm excited to start.”
Shauna’s strength and dedication to athletics will bring depth to the women’s team this year. Her work ethic and positive attitude will be an asset as the Moose look to make an impact in the conference standing in 2017.
Coach Brendan Gilpatrick is excited to have Shauna joining the Moose next season saying, "Shauna has all the attributes to be a great runner for us. Having the athletic background that she does and the motivation she has already demonstrated in joining the team this summer, she has all the tools in place to be a strong runner for us.”
When asked about her experience with the team so far Shauna said, “Coach Gilpatrick has been very informative and supportive in my joining the cross-country team. He's made joining the team an easy decision.”
